Dear Justin -
It is time to revoke the appointment of Amira Elghawaby who you honoured by appointing her Canada's Special Envoy on combatting Islamophobia.
She has had every opportunity to collaborate closely with your Envoy on Antisemitism, Deborah Lyons, and to condemn wholeheartedly, the radical Islamists who have utterly changed Canada forever notably since 7 October, 2023 - by fomenting hate, firing bullets into synagogues, terrifying children through their own radicalized young ones - in K-12, in colleges and universities - by poisoning social and regular media, tainting unions and political parties, planning horrific terror attacks in Toronto, the US, Israel. . . calling for the death of Jews in regular mass marches that cost taxpayers and police services financially and spreading resources on the ground far too thin - and vast demonstrations that demonize Zionists who express love for their indigenous homeland (as do our own First Nations people).
It is time - as Quebec Minister of Education Pascale Déry has said, that she should “mind her own business”: hiring professors based on religion goes against one of Canada’s most fundamental principles of secularism - that Quebec adheres to - separation of state / church / education.
It would seem that from both a legal viewpoint and moral perspective, Ms. Elghawaby is way out of line and needs - minimally to be reigned in, obliged to retract and apologize to Canadians for abrogating our constitutional and collective moral compass - and ultimately - to be replaced with someone who can discern reality from gross misrepresentations of truth.
