Dear Editor,
Peter Beinart posits the fallacious premise that the Arabs are interested in a Palestinian state in the West Bank and Gaza when the historical record since 1947 is clear that the opposite is true. ("Why Progressives Are Right to Boycott Israeli President Issac Herzog").
From November 30, 1947 the Arabs -- later called the Palestinian Arabs at the behest of the KGB in 1964 - have consistently rejected a Palestinian state. In 1947 their leader, Nazi war criminal the Grand Mufti Animal Husseini, rejected a Palestinian state -- which the Jews accepted ,-- when offered on that proverbial silver platter by the United Nations General Assembly. When he rejected a Palestinian state, the Grand Mufti commanded the Arabs to "Murder the Jews. Murder all of them". Since then the Arabs have -- to use the Grand Mufti's terminology -- murdered over 28,400 Jews.
It must also be noted that from 1948-1967, when Jordan illegally occupied Judea and Samaria, and renamed it the "West Bank." a clear violation of Article 80 of the United Nations Chater-- not once did the Arabs demand a Palestinian state.
The Arabs have rejected a Palestinian state in 1948, 1967, 1994, 2000, 2008, 2019 and 2020. Why? The answer is simple.
Every offer of a Palestinian state that the Arabs have rejected over 75 years allows for the existence of Jews. It is the existence of Jewish people that prevents the Arabs from accepting a Palestinian state. This entire dispute has nothing to do with land. The Grand Mufti's command -- "Murder the Jews. Murder all of them"- represents the actual Muslim raison d'etre that Mr. Beinart and his Progressive colleagues refuse to acknowledge.
Yasir Arafat was, and Mahmoud Abbas is, a sycophant of the Grand Mufti and incapable of accepting the existence of Jews on what the Quran claims is Muslim land -- although the word "Jerusalem" does not appear even once in the Islamic holy book. Ignoring the foundational Quranic basis for the Arab's 75 year rejection of endless offers -- all accepted by the Jews -- of a Palestinian state is ultimately antisemitic and willful blindness to the reality of modern Mideast history.
