European antisemitism has returned to its pre 1946 ferocity. (" a "Wave of Antisemitism" , Survey Finds). A 70-year respite of sorts is over. Jew hatred again is de rigueur across Europe in all classes and countries.
Professor Cary Nelson of the University of Illinois at Urbana- Champaign and a former president of the American Association of University Professors recently described the heart this perverse phenomenon:
"In the contemporary world , the phenomenon of fierce unrelenting BDS anti-Zionism constitutes antisemitism's new face, its political and social cover, its facilitator and enabler. It's also supplying devotees of anti- Zionism with a rationale and reliable mechanism for rationalization and self- deception. Channeling objections to " injustice", it allows anti-Zionism to be fueled not just with moral outrage but with rage. Anti- Zionism is the new mask of the world's oldest hatred." ( Hate Speech and Academic Freedom, The Antisemitic Assault on Basic Principles, Cary Nelson, 2024, page 115).
Certainly, the Irish people who offered their sincere condolences to Nazi Germany upon the death of Adolf Hitler on May 2, 1945 enthusiastically support this latest wave of Jew hatred.
