Letter to Editor, Globe and Mail re Diana Buttu's claim of an International Failure is the failure; she fails to call Hamas a terrorist organization

Re:  An International Failure

Diana Buttu

October 12, 2024

It is unconscionable that the Globe and Mail publishes opinions that support Hamas, ignore facts entirely and mis-presents the reality of Israel’s fight against terrorism, to suggest that slaughter of innocents, barbaric acts of savagery are not cause for a country to defend itself and its population.

Diana Buttu is good at such mis-information, depicting a totally one-sided account of the October 7th war launched by Hamas against Israel.  She prefers supporting Hamas and demonizing Israel as the source of all the suffering.  The terror of Hamas continues. Since Hamas broke a ceasefire on October 6, 2023, they continue to wage war.

For the war to end, they must be defeated; they must surrender and release the hostages,  and then Gazans will be free. Hamas’s tyranny over its own people is well documented, its interest in the lives of its people is less than negligible.

They see their own population as fodder to be used to perpetuate their sick agenda. Hamas’ only goal is to destroy Israel and commit genocide against the Jews, hardly a cause that any newspaper in this country should give credence to, let alone a line of print. Buttu lives in a free society, having taken up residence in Haifa.

Were it not for the Jews who developed this arid land, gave jobs, education, freedom, hope and opportunity to the resident Arabs, that area might be another misogynistic backwater, a land where minorities are mistreated, and LGBTQ people are terrorized or sent to Allah. In  Gaza, citizens are used as human shields, children are taught to kill and not to live in peace or co-existence, schools are used to stash weapons , as are hospitals, and mosques, and private homes hide tunnels that serve to protect terrorists, not civilians.

Buttu falsely accuses Israel of genocide and being an apartheid state. These canards have been shown to be bigoted lies for years so why is the Globe and Mail publishing such nonsense?

The population of a genocide doesn’t increase but the Arab population of both Gaza, Israel, Judea and Samaria did increase substantially until Hamas started its rampage. Genocide is a word that means targeted killing of an entire population which is the intent of Hamas and its siblings, Hezbollah and the Houthis, while Israel does the opposite.

It targets the terrorists. There is no apartheid in Israel as evidenced by Buttu herself living a free and open life in a democracy that supports all faiths, creeds, ethnicities, races. Meanwhile, this cheerleader for Hamas chooses to live in Haifa, not in any of the areas under the control of the Palestinian Arab tyrants .

As usual Andria provides a terrific honest response to Buttu's lies. You only need to visit Israel to know the truth, but nobody wants to do any research into a country they continue to condemn with no proof!
