Dear Editor,
Arab Canadian lawyer, Diana Buttu, a representative of the PLO, who lives in Haifa, claims an Israeli genocide and fails to name Hamas as initiator of the current and past wars in Gaza.
It isn’t very surprising but it is disappointing that one of Canada’s national newspapers, the Globe and Mail, prints lies, passing as opinions, that not only distort facts, they negate or eliminate them. Evading truth is neither journalism nor commentary; it is bold faced lying.
I was shocked and horrified to see the article on the front page of the Globe and Mail’s Opinion section. It is a totally one-sided account of the October 7th war by Hamas against Israel, in support of Hamas and demonizing Israel as the source of all the suffering. When in reality, it was Hamas with its terrorist army, which launched an unprovoked war against Israel, committing acts of savagery against Jews not seen since the Holocaust. They continue till today. Facts such as Hamas’s ISIS- like barbarism in the Israeli attacks, the fact that they use their own citizens as human shields, deliberately stashing weapons in hospitals, schools and family homes, is never mentioned. She falsely accuses Israel of genocide and being an apartheid state. Meanwhile, this cheerleader for Hamas chooses to live in Haifa, not in any of the Palestinian territories.
