A Jewish Member of NYC Council Speaks Out; We Need Model Him

This was submitted by a reader, sharing from a website called Newsrael, dated June 2, 2023.

Watch how one man stands up against Jew hatred.

Must Read

CAEF reviews and recommends books and welcomes reviews from readers. This book, Betrayal, The Failure of American Jewish Leadership is being included in this Bulletin as it has gotten much attention online and in community discussions. It speaks to the current times in which antisemitism is surging and Jewish leadership is often unresponsive or under-responsive, consistently overlooking leftist antisemitism and Islamist provocations for Jew hatred. The majority of contributors are American, but one essay deals with Canada.

Below are a few comments promoting this book:

American Jews are under assault, their institutions under siege, and their leaders are failing to protect them due to conflicting ideological loyalties and a deficit of courage.

“Betrayal loudly rings the alarm for a somnolent American Jewry. Read it and wake others.” —Daniel Pipes, President of the Middle East Forum

“If you think it’s time for the American Jewish community, its organizations, and its leadership, to have an honest, challenging, vigorous debate about where we are going—and what mistakes we have made—then read this important, illuminating, sometimes depressing, but ultimately inspiring, book.” —Gil Troy, Distinguished Scholar of North American History at McGill University, and editor of the three-volume set Theodor Herzl: Zionist Writings

This book—perhaps the first devoted to this topic—documents the devastating failure of the Jewish establishment, including its leaders and major donors, to defend and protect American Jews as anti-Semitism surges across the country. It is a collection of essays by writers who care about the welfare of the Jewish community. Some of the essayists are prominent, some are local activists engaged in ongoing battles to defend the community. Some essays offer analyses, others give disturbing, in-depth accounts of the failures themselves. All of them rebuke the Jewish leaders and institutions who have abandoned their responsibilities. While Jewish leaders cling to a utopian belief system which comports with their naïve political ideology, the ugly reality their mindset ignores only worsens. Betrayed by their leaders, the essayists argue, American Jews require new, strong leadership.

The book itself is an expanded version of a collection published in the Spring 2022 issue of White Rose Magazine, a publication which promotes classical liberalism in the face of political extremism and is named in honor of the anti-Nazi White Rose resistance movement.

Quote worth remembering - Nikki Haley: ‘Antisemitism is not hard to define if you’re serious about stopping it.’

She called on the Biden administration to act domestically on the IHRA definition having adopted it and not water it down or add confusion by referencing any other definition.

Praise for “Progressive” Palestine, by The Elder of Ziyon

The United Nations Never Passes Up an Opportunity to Condemn Israel

Mere criticism isn’t enough, and raising an annual negative report is insufficient so in 2022, the UN appointed a new Commission of Inquiry with one agenda item, a staff of 15, and a budget of $5m to investigate Israeli crimes against Palestinian Arabs. It sounded like an April Fool’s joke or a Hallowe’en Trick, but it is the usual, rampant antisemitism of the UN and its misfits. In an article by Dave Gordon, published in JNS in June, Hillel Neuer, Executive Director of UN Watch stated that he anticipates a “progress” report that will target Israel, despite the original commitment to examine both sides. “It’s not really an inquiry,” he said. “It’s what I call an inquisition. The guilt is predetermined, and all they do is find facts, as they see it, that support Israel’s guilt.”

The UN’s Openly Antisemitic Report

The UN has become pathologically antisemitic, and its recent report, describing even supporters of Israel, defenders of the IHRA, and organizations that fight antisemitism, as anti-human rights and abusers of Palestinian Arab rights is proof that the organization is no longer about human rights, but is committed to the destruction of Israel and demonization of Jews. It is demonstrating an antisemitic focus, despite having had a report with recommendations on how to combat antisemitism in September 2019.

Is there any Value Sitting on the UN Security Council?

Algeria was just elected to the UN Security Council. See how the country is best described by the Elder of Zyion, then consider, is this a worthwhile body? Should democracies even be members in the UN? Is democracy served by this kind of regime?

A law was passed in 1962 that ensured that anyone without a Muslim grandparent couldn't be a citizen. Some 140,000 Jews had to leave, and the laws, while changed, ensure that they cannot become citizens today.

  • Algeria routinely arrests human rights activists.

  • There are credible reports of torture in prisons.

  • The judiciary is not independent and effectively controlled by the president.

  • There are laws that restrict women's rights.

  • Men who beat women can be pardoned if the woman is pressured to marry him.

  • There are laws that criminalize many forms of speech, both in mainstream and social media. Some journalists were harassed and intimidated.

  • Laws restrict activities of any religion besides Sunni Islam.

  • Gays can be imprisoned under the law for homosexual acts.

  • Movies and books must be approved before being allowed into the country.

  • Protests in Algiers are essentially illegal.

  • Black Algerians, Black migrants and non-Muslims are widely discriminated against.

So Algeria is a racist, homophobic, misogynist, apartheid dictatorship whose citizens have no freedom and limited rights.

One reason you don't hear much about countries like Algeria in the news is because if the media and human rights groups would judge all countries with the same standards and campaign against all abuses with the same energy, criticism of Israel would be invisible in the tsunami of actual serious human rights abuses worldwide. And they don't want to live in a world like that.

A seat at the Security Council is a very high honor. Outside of groups like UN Watch, who is protesting giving this honor to a country as contemptuous of human rights as Algeria is?

No one cares.”

Nakba Nonsense, Mythology, and Lies

Despite attempts, since 1949, to create a crisis that never was, the pro-Palestinian/BDS crowd with their anti-Zionist sympathizers, portray the defeat of 5 Arab armies in 1949, by the fledgling IDF, as a catastrophe for the Palestinian Arabs. Indeed, the defeat, the failing of the Arabs was their nakba but now the campaign is to discredit Israel, delegitimize the nation state of the Jewish people, claiming the Nakba was a massacre, a full on displacement of an indigenous people. None of this is true. It was a failure of the Arabs, a loss of face, and now they wish to rewrite the story. There are plenty of willing idiots who deny history and teach lies. But as described by Alex Safian in this JNS.org article, May 21, 2023, the Nakba Narrative is Nonsense.

Watch Brooke Goldstein, Executive Director of The Lawfare Project, speak about the Nakba Myth, presented on Israel Hayom.

The UN Approved a Resolution to Commemorate the “Nakba”, More Proof the UN has no Moral Compass.

Dr. Joseph Frager, published in Israpundit, reprinted from Israel National News, summarizing the historical revisionism embraced by the Nakba lie.

(JNS) Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) insists on pushing her “nakba” lie and the U.N. has given it its stamp of approval. This makes me want to go back in time and review a period that seems to have been swept under the rug and forgotten. I will hit some of the highlights.

In July of 1937, the Zionists accepted a partition plan proposed by Earl Peel, an ex-British cabinet minister. The mufti of Jerusalem, Haj Amin al-Husseini, demanded independence, the annulment of the Balfour Declaration and the removal of all Jews from then-Palestine.

When is an Illegal Arab Structure Taken Down by Israeli Authorities? When it is Occupied by Jews!

This is an incredible story. David Israel wrote on June 12th, 2023 as reported in the Jewish Press, about selective enforcement of the law by the Civil Administration in regards to the removal of illegal buildings in Judea and Samaria. Regavim, the NGO that defends Jewish rights on the land and documents illegal construction in Area C, under Jewish control and for Jewish residency, sought to have this building removed but the claim was rejected by the Court. It did not happen, until Jewish backpackers and residents of Haresha, a nearby settlement, began to use the vacated building. Then it was demolished. The moral of the story? Put Israeli flags on more illegal Arab buildings and see action!
