Dear Mr. Leblanc,
It is imperative, and can no longer be denied, that federal legislation and action is needed to quell the rising tide of antisemitism in this country. Daily there are new incidents and threats to the Jewish community. These acts of vandalism, hateful rhetoric and threats in social media have potential to escalate into real harm.
Canada requires legislation that stipulates that glorifying terrorism is a criminal offence.
Canada must do more to reduce and eventually eliminate Jew hatred. All of the anti Israel protests, encampments, union motions, professorial rantings and social media postings, civic and student motions to boycott Israel, are base examples of Jew hatred. Calling for the annihilation of Israel, supporting an intifada, calling terrorism resistance, lying about an occupation- indicate support for terrorism.
Act now before the intensity of antisemitism results in more serious acts endangering our community. Words lead to deeds. Wars tart with words. Language can be harmful.
