Dear Mr. Fenlon,
For far too long CBC has misrepresented the terrorist entity Hamas as a "militant" group when they are murderous terrorists, and have been since their founding. As importantly, your journalists must start to tell the truth and move away from the bias that CBC constantly represents, clearly anti-Israel and inherently anti-Jewish.
Hamas's charter of 1988 clearly states its intent to totally destroy Israel and kill Jews globally. We expect to see and hear CBC report this. Here is a link to their charter.
Article 15 confirms the genocidal intention:
"In face of the Jews' usurpation of Palestine, it is compulsory that the banner of Jihad be raised. To do this requires the diffusion of Islamic consciousness among the masses, both on the regional, Arab and Islamic levels. It is necessary to instill the spirit of Jihad in the heart of the nation so that they would confront the enemies and join the ranks of the fighters."
Here are a few other statements which ought to be shared with the CBC audience:
"The Islamic Resistance Movement is one of the wings of Moslem Brotherhood in Palestine."
"The Islamic Resistance Movement is a distinguished Palestinian movement, whose allegiance is to Allah, and whose way of life is Islam. It strives to raise the banner of Allah over every inch of Palestine.."
"The Islamic Resistance Movement is one of the links in the chain of the struggle against the Zionist invaders. It goes back to 1939, to the emergence of the martyr Izz al-Din al Kissam and his brethren the fighters, members of Moslem Brotherhood. It goes on to reach out and become one with another chain that includes the struggle of the Palestinians and Moslem Brotherhood in the 1948 war and the Jihad operations of the Moslem Brotherhood in 1968 and after. "
(Clearly killing Jews is not related to the establishment of the state in 48 if the decision to eliminate Jews by Hamas began in 1939, and we know that it actually began a decade earlier with the Mufti of Jerusalem ordering pogroms and massacring Jews in Hebron, Sefat and elsewhere in the 20s.)
"Palestine is an Islamic Waqf land consecrated for Moslem generations until Judgement Day."
"Initiatives, and so-called peaceful solutions and international conferences, are in contradiction to the principles of the Islamic Resistance Movement. Abusing any part of Palestine is abuse directed against part of religion. Nationalism of the Islamic Resistance Movement is part of its religion. Its members have been fed on that. For the sake of hoisting the banner of Allah over their homeland they fight."
The above are just a few of the statements that guide the Islamist Hamas terrorists . I have bolded phrases that you ought to recognize as impacting both Israel and all Western civilization.
Israel found manuals on dead terrorists, after the recent invasion by Hamas, that detail their plans for the massacre of innocents, as well as documentation about using chemicals to injure and kill. When might we expect to hear this on CBC?
Hamas is killing its own people in Gaza which it has done since taking over Gaza in 2007. It has always killed those who oppose it. One recent video showed murderous Hamas terrorists throwing people alive in a pit then shooting them in the head. When might we hear that CBC will report these atrocities committed against Gazans?
The Canadian Antisemitism Education Foundation urges that CBC immediately start using the term "terrorist" and consider using correct words to describe Hamas as an Islamist extremist group, akin to ISIS, supporting the Nazi ideology of exterminating the Jews. The same applies to Palestinian Islamic Jihad which is another Iranian backed Muslim Brotherhood affiliate, bent on exterminating Israel.
The story about an airstrike by Israel hitting a hospital in Gaza was a good example of a rush to judgement that laid claim to an atrocity by Israel, only to be proven entirely false.
Here is the CBC story:
Facts emerged quite soon after this that Israel had not bombed anything near the hospital, that in fact the hospital was NOT hit--the hospital parking lot was, and 500 people were NOT killed. Other crucial information was shared by Israel, such as the nature of the shrapnel used. PIJ's own rocket hit the site.
Isn't it time that CBC reporters considered investigating situations instead of pouncing on stories intended to make Israel look bad? Both the US and Israel confirmed facts that should have had CBC recanting and apologizing. While Canada took longer to support the facts, that is no excuse for CBC to misrepresent something as important as blame for the murder of civilians. It has been reported elsewhere that as many as 25% of the terrorists' rockets fall short and land in Gaza, killing civilians as well as terrorists.
Finally, Mr. Fenlon it is incumbent on you to raise your standards of journalism with a focus on truth, Canadian values of fairness, justice and freedom, which Hamas distains and for which Israel is a leading light. Choose the good guys, not the bad guys in reporting the news. I don't hear you providing perspectives from Russians who want to kill Ukrainians, nor would I expect CBC to interview Nazis who slaughtered Jews, but there seems to be an incessant fascination with interviewing Islamists, and their sympathizers, who want to see more dead Jews.
Journalistic excellence requires you and your team to do better.
Respectfully,
Andria Spindel
