Community Rally for U of T Students: Jews Demand Safety on Campus
On October 21, students, faculty, activists and Jewish community members from many sectors stood together to call for a safe campus for ALL. Jews were asking for the same security and respect that all students have the right to enjoy. Organized by several groups, collaboration was the name of the day, and speakers included Amir Epstein, co-founder of Tafsik, Esther Halevi, co-founder of Canadian Women Against Antisemitism, Daniel Bordman, podcaster and activist, Salman Sima, an Iranian former prisoner and human rights activist, Dahlia Kurtz, a journalist and podcaster, and special guest, Dr. Shai Davidai, Columbia prof and activist.
Surrounded by kaffiyeh-wearing anti-Israel hangers-on, the speakers openly invited them to show their faces, answer pointed questions and engage in respectful dialogue. None responded. It was noteworthy that Epstein and Davidai made it clear that Jews are calling for the same measures of safety as befits all students and faculty, that the rally was not anti-Palestinian and that people need to choose a harmonious way to work together and not divide our country.

Noted author, journalist and commentator Melanie Phillips praised Pierre Poilievre, Canada’s Leader of the Official Opposition, for his moral clarity in his recent statement regarding Israel’s right to defend itself. In the article published in JNS, she writes: “Canada’s Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre said: ‘I think the idea of allowing a genocidal, theocratic, unstable dictatorship that is desperate to avoid being overthrown by its own people to develop nuclear weapons is about the most dangerous and irresponsible thing that the world could ever allow. If Israel were to stop that genocidal, theocratic, unstable government from acquiring nuclear weapons, it would be a gift by the Jewish state to humanity.’”

Israel Under Unrelenting Attack on 7 Fronts for a Year
by Charles Cooke, CAEF Government Relations Rep.
Enough! No one in the international community did anything to stop Hezbollah from firing over 8,500 rockets from Lebanon into Israel for over a year.
Now it’s time to put an end to these attacks. This is not escalation. That happened more than a year ago by Hamas on October 7 and by Hezbollah on October 8.
Too many in the West shake their fingers and call on Israel for a ceasefire now!
With whom/what? On what terms? For what purpose? To what end? So Hamas and Hezbollah can rise and attack Israel again? A ceasefire now amounts to victory for terrorists. It will also communicate the message to the terrorists that they can attack with impunity all over the world.
A ceasefire now would be a failure, not only of Israeli deterrence, but Western deterrence. Western governments seem intent on pushing for a ceasefire now. For example, Emmanuel Macron, president of France, has even called for an arms embargo on Israel. This is not only shameful but extremely wrongheaded. Such action would only bite back the Western world with a rise of terrorism at home.
On the international level, the UN has never condemned Hamas, and Hezbollah barely gets a mention. Appalling.
What Israel is now doing is called SELF-DEFENCE. And this is what self-defence looks like.
Finally, the ultimate irony: Many militaries, secret services, intelligence services and domestic security services of the West will come running to Israel when all this ends, to learn best practices in fighting terrorism, how to apply intelligence analysis in real time and how to effectively fight in urban warfare settings and asymmetric wars!
Is this the ultimate hypocrisy of Western political elites?
One wonders.
