Jews and Allies Must Speak Up. Reach Out and Influence Someone!
CAEF encourages all Allies of the Jewish community to expand the network of support. Read stories below that highlight bridges with allies. Every voice counts. Silence is complicity.
The CAEF Shalom Project, which is a 45 minute ppt presentation was recently presented online to respondents to the last CAEF Bulletin. We are thrilled to advise that subscribers in Columbus, Ohio and Fredericton, New Brunswick, have joined the CAEF team to share this program. Interest has also come from other communities.
CAEF presented the Shalom Project to an audience of about 40 people at the Toronto Prosserman JCC as part of their adult education programming. Responses were positive and more bookings were confirmed.
The creator, Fern Quint is happy to schedule a viewing and even happier if you join as a CAEF presenter and take this important information to your community, organization, faith group, allies, politicians, or friends and family.

The “Bibas Family Street”
Read article by David Israel in the Jewish Press, about Buenos Aires renaming a street to memorialize the murder of the Bibas children and their mother. President Javier Milei of Argentina declared two days of national mourning and “The government issued a statement: “Argentina demands the immediate release of all hostages and trusts that the terrorist group will be reduced to ashes.”
Toronto Vigil for Bibas Family
On Thursday February 19, a candlelight vigil was quickly put together on learning of the return of the hostages murdered by Hamas, including the Bibas babies. It was held on the site of the longest running weekly rally for Israel which is led by Guidy Mammon of Toronto Zionist Council. Over 300 people gathered waving Israeli and Canadian flags, holding posters of the kidnapped, while holding candles to light the night.
Many heard for the first time that one of the bodies returned was not the Bibas’ mother, further highlighting the cruelty of Hamas terror even more. Speaking up in allyship and support were Provincial Solicitor General Michael Kerzner, MP Kevin Vuong and city councillors Brad Bradford and James Pasternak. Miriam Perl brought a message of support and strength from the Israel Consul General of Toronto and Western Canada.
Devasted by the news but resolved to stand together, each speaker was responded to with the uniting call of ‘Am Israel Chai!’

Statement from Yarden Bibas
During these painful and difficult days, there are no words to describe the level of gratitude that we feel towards all of you. The warm embrace, the love and the strength that you have sent us from all over Israel and the world strength us and accompany us during these moments of crisis.
We sense the open hearts, the enormous embrace, your pain alongside our pain – which we don’t take for granted.
This Wednesday we will accompany Shiri, Kfir and Ariel on their final journey. We are aware that many of you want to be there, to pay your respects, to express your love and to say your goodbyes together with us.
However, in order to enable the family to say their goodbyes in the most personal and intimate way, and due to space limitations, the funeral ceremony itself will only be for members of the family and close friends.
Out of the Box Solution to Change Gazan’s Ideological Bias
Just as President Donald Trump has proposed radically new ideas for how to free Gaza from Hamas, rebuild and renew the land on which Jews once lived, so too Jonathan Feldstein, an Orthodox Jew, writing for Israel365 News has an out of the box suggestion.

Hamas Cowards Use Dead Babies for Propaganda
Faces covered and guns at arms, these Hamas beasts parade coffins to music to arouse the Gazan crowd to celebrate their success. Success? In slaying infants and defenseless women and elderly people? Never forget that Hamas never speaks truth and would likely even lie about the weather.

Hamas Barbarism has No Limits
Watching Hamas terrorize its already terrified and tortured Israeli hostages, trade on empty lies and hand over a casket that does not hold the promised remains of Shiri Bibas, is to both infuriate and aggravate an already significant existential pain. How can any human watch and not both understand the extent of barbarism and savagery of Hamas, and offer empathy to the entire Israeli community and Jews worldwide? Yet, there are still among us supporters of Hamas, defenders of jihadists, and liars who believe that Hamas demonstrates resistance against a mythical Israeli oppression. The Gazans are indeed oppressed, by Hamas and their sister terror organizations, and are aided and abetted by the PA and its minions across the globe.
Who is funding the demonstrators on our streets? The professors of dystopia in our universities? The wilfully blind media? The campus groups that evade eviction and brainwash our youth? This must be investigated. In the US, recent research by the Network Contagion Research Institute at Rutgers University produced hard data showing that the amount of foreign funding at a university, correlated with the level and severity of anti-Israel, antisemitic demonstrations and support.

If you are Canadian, send a letter to Federal Party leaders or your MP demanding an investigation into the foreign funding of our universities and the rise of antisemitism on campus. With a federal election expected very soon after the election of a Liberal Party leader, it should be an essential commitment by all Leaders that they uncover and undo the damage being done at universities across Canada by the rise of antisemitism that is tolerated and unabated.
Read article by Phil Gurski, President and CEO of Borealis Threat and Security Consulting, in the Epoch Times noting it is well over time to consider foreign influence on canadian campuses.

New Resource for Educators and Parents from Canadian Writer
Larry Finkelman is a Fredericton, New Brunswick-based poet, who along with educator Jasmine Kranat produced a book for Holocaust educators and those addressing current antisemitism in schools and community programs. Below is an excerpt from a review of Bearing Witness to Antisemitism by Rhonda Daltrop.
“These poems could be a wonderful start into a school study of Jewish people and the effects of antisemitism. The book also includes 2 – 3 page lesson plans for most poems put together by Jasmine Kranat; plans that are clear and concise, including a set up for study, critical thinking, and to encourage empathy for others. The objectives and procedures are clearly suggested as well as step by step suggestions for orchestrating the study of each poem. For example, she asks students to reflect on the following question: Discuss the ethical dilemma faced by individuals who were "just following orders" during the Holocaust. What factors influenced their decisions, and what are the implications for moral agency and accountability? This book would be of great use in the schools to encourage a quest for truth by students in a society struggling with manipulation through social media and hate rallies which incite antisemitism and racism.”
Advocacy and Action
Ontario is in the final stage of a provincial election and Canadians expect a federal election to be called in mid to late March. CAEF is sharing two important items that address policies to be shared with all candidates of all parties.
The Canadian Antisemitism Education Foundation has 5 expectations of the provincial party which is elected in the upcoming provincial election. All have to do with seriously addressing antisemitism--preventing, countering, monitoring, and disciplining those who are antisemitic. The Jewish community is not asking for the government to make groups "feel safe," but to ensure they are safe and to treat every community as equals. We therefore, ask now that each Party declare its support for the following:
The government of Ontario adopted the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance working definition of antisemitism by Executive Order in Council. CAEF expects that all provincial departments, crown corporations, professional regulators, funded NGOs and provincially mandated institutions be educated about the IHRA Working Definition, and the Department of Canadian Heritage Handbook, and required to implement it and document incidents of antisemitism.
The IHRA defines anti-Zionism as antisemitism; Zionism being the belief in the right to self-determination of the Jewish people in their ancient homeland, Israel, a land that has never been sovereign to any other people. CAEF demands that the government ensure the truth, not narratives that distort history be taught in the public education system. It is noteworthy that research confirms that Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, (DEI) policies frequently have the reverse effect to their intent; increasing racism, antisemitism and divisiveness. CAEF expects that the government address DEI programs to ensure that they deliver on their stated intent.
CAEF expects that the province introduce “bubble” legislation that will require any and all protests to be kept at a very safe distance from all religious, community and educational institutions.
CAEF expects that all provincially mandated professional colleges be required to have robust policies and procedures to confront antisemitism amongst their members, and implement real consequences.
CAEF expects that the government get displays of hatred off our streets by vigorous enforcement of the Criminal Code (including Section 423(1)(g) -Intimidation: blocking a road) and highway traffic laws, and that all enforcement agencies train their members to fully recognize the crimes that are being carried out on in our communities.
The recently formed Alliance of Canadians Combating Antisemitism, chaired by Mark Sandler, criminal lawyer, issued the following document, How Federal, Provincial, and Municipal Governments Can Tackle Antisemitism.
CAEF Issues Impact Statement
On February 19, 2025, Omar Elkahodary was found guilty of assault in the Ontario Court of Justice. CAEF issued the attached impact statement. Everyone is encouraged to send their own statement in accordance with the following guidelines. Use the CAEF framework or your own words. Let the Judge know how Jews are impacted by the antisemitic behaviour of this individual and all such who disrespect, threaten, denigrate or assault any member of our community.
