10/7 A Day of Mourning and Resilience 10/7/24 | CAEF Special Bulletin, October 7, 2024

Israel’s Loss Forever Engraved on Our Hearts and Minds

There are no words for the horror of October 7, 2023, a massacre committed against Israel, the slaughter of innocent Israelis and foreign nationals, attacks at random against people in Israel, Jews and non-Jews. The Hamas goal was and is, the genocide of Jews, the eradication of Israel. This goal is supported by Hezbollah, Houthis, Palestinian Islamic Jihad and other terrorist entities, proxies for the heinous Islamist regime of Iran. The ultimate goal is to submit the world to radical Islamism. The Jews are the front line in attacks on the West. Islamist supremacism is bolstered by extreme leftism which is fundamentally opposed to Judeo-Christian values, the foundational values of our democracy and freedoms.

CAEF honours the dead, cries for the injured, and for the hostages still in Gaza, the destroyed communities and kibbutzim, the destroyed and tormented lives of families, and prays for Jewish unity, for the welfare of all Israelis, and for wisdom in the government, and victory for the IDF. There is too little commitment to Never Again on the part of Western governments, media, academics, faith leaders, and human rights organizations.  The list of our enemies, of those whose minds have been poisoned, whose actions betray Canadian values, human values, is too many to list.

Our strength comes from our heritage, our Judaism, our national identity. Today we mourn, we remember. Today we recommit to standing proud as Jews and Zionists, or as Allies who love Israel. Today we commit to winning, to Israel’s forever survival and it’s continuing as a thriving democracy, and the model of civil society which has courage and heart in a troubled world.

Tonight in Toronto, thousands will gather at the Prosserman JCC to commemorate October 7th.

CAEF Acknowledges the Allyship of Many

On October 6th, many Jewish leaders and activists attended a beautiful Vigil with Christian, Hindu, Muslim and other allies. Resilience and Remembrance was organized by Rev. Majed Shafie, founder of One Free World International, and hosted by Pastor Judith James at the Revival Time Tabernacle in Toronto. The event paid homage to the survivors of the October 7th attack, mourned the loss of lives in Israel from Hamas terrorists who were aided by thousands of Gazan civilians, and demonstrated solidarity with Israel.

Speakers included  Solhail Raza, Donna Holbrook, Sheng Zue, Tanya Gaw, Amir Epstein and the Consul General of Israel, Idit Shamir, as well as Rev. Majed Shafi, the keynoter. The speakers representing different communities gave voice to the pain of Jews in Canada who are experiencing dramatic levels of antisemitism, and called out the Islamists, leftists, and antagonists that wish to bring down our society. None of the speakers was subtle in stating the war in Israel with enemies on 7 fronts, is the front line in a war against the West.
